NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 9, 2002 Real Property Tax Bills Due Monday, September 16 (Washington, DC) The District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) recently mailed over 153,000 real property tax bills for the 2002 Second-Half Tax Year. The bills were mailed in mid-August to District real property owners. Since the real property tax bill due date of September 15 falls on a Sunday, payments are due on Monday, September 16, 2002. If your mortgage company handles the payment of your real property taxes, the mortgage company would already have received your bill electronically. To date, OTR has received approximately 200 calls from real property owners, notifying OTR that they have not received their real property tax bills. If you are a property owner who has not received your real property tax bill and you are responsible for paying it (and not your mortgage company), please call OTR at (202) 727-4TAX (727-4829), and a duplicate bill will be sent to you.
