Grace Period Granted for Ballpark Fee Filers

(Washington, DC) The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) will allow a 15-day grace period for persons or businesses ("feepayers") subject to the new Ballpark Fee, which was due June 15, 2005, to file their returns and pay the fee. The grace period ends June 30, 2005.

"After careful consideration of the Ballpark Fee's broad impact, we have determined that the grace period would provide the appropriate administrative relief to those feepayers who have just learned of their filing obligations for this new fee to comply with those requirements," said Deputy Chief Financial Officer Daniel L. Black, Jr.

During this grace period, feepayers are still required to file their returns and pay all fees; however, feepayers will not be liable for any interest or penalties incurred for filing between June 16 and June 30, 2005, inclusive.

Ballpark Fee payers are persons or businesses that have income of $5,000,000 or more in annual District gross receipts and either are: a) subject to filing franchise tax returns (whether Corporate or Unincorporated) or b) employers required to make unemployment insurance contributions.

For further information feepayers can contact OTR Customer Service at (202) 727-4TAX (727-4829) or visit Baseball-Related Fees and Taxes.
