What's New This Tax Filing Season
The Office of Tax and Revenue would like to remind District residents of “what’s new” this tax filing season:
To improve the internet filing experience and for the Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) to become more efficient processing individual tax return electronically, effective January 2013, OTR retired the Individual eTSC return filing system. eTSC will be replaced with a new program called DCfreefile, based on the IRS Free File Alliance program currently enjoyed by citizens in many states.
DCfreefile fillable forms:
An alternative if you do not quality for DCfreefile is to use DCfreefile fillable forms. There are no age or income restrictions, however please review the DCfreefile fillable forms FAQ's to determine your eligibility.
DC Prepaid Refund Card:
If your refund amount is $25 - $2,500, you may opt to receive a prepaid refund card unless you select direct deposit.
DC standard deduction has increased.
Reference the D40/D-40EZ booklet for instructions.
The District will no longer mail paper individual income tax packages. Taxpayers can download the forms and instructions from the DC website, www.taxpayerservicecenter.com. Paper forms will be available at various District agencies and public libraries.
