OTR Extends Service Hours on April 15 to Help Residents Meet Their Tax Obligations

Walk-in and telephone centers will remain open until 7 pm.

The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) will extend its service hours on Tuesday, April 15, to help District residents meet their tax obligations. The customer service walk-in center, located at 1101 4th Street, SW, on the second floor (adjacent to the Green Line Metrorail - Waterfront), and telephone center will open from 8:15 am to 7 pm.

Telephone assistance is available by calling (202) 727-4TAX (4829).

Free Tax Prep
Free preparation of the District individual income tax returns is available at the walk-in center between the hours of 8:15 am - 4:45 pm, Monday - Friday.  Simply bring:

  • A copy of your completed federal tax return,
  • Supporting W-2 forms and schedules, and
  • A valid driver’s license or state identification

On April 15, 2014, free preparation of the District individual income tax returns is available at the walk-in center between the hours of 8:15 am - 6:15 pm.

All other services are available during our regular operating hours, 8:15 am - 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

Extension of Time to File
Taxpayers who may need additional time to file their tax returns are reminded that they can submit their FR-127 Extension of Time for Individual Income Tax online via the Electronic Taxpayer Service Center (eTSC), by visiting https://www.taxpayerservicecenter.com/.  Taxpayers can also use eTSC to file and make payments of D-40ES Estimated Payments for Individual Income Tax.  Links to these forms are listed below:

Office Closed April 16
OTR offices will be closed on Wednesday, April 16, in observance of the District’s Emancipation Day. The agency will re-open at 8:15 am, Thursday, April 17.
