Real Property/Bid Tax Payments

You may pay your real property tax bill with a check or money order payable to the "DC Treasurer." Be sure to include your square, suffix and lot or parcel and lot numbers on your check or money order. Also include the top portion of your bill to help us process your payment on time.

Mail your payment in the envelope provided. If you must use another envelope, send your payment to the following address:

Office of Tax and Revenue
DC Government Real Property Taxes
PO Box 718095
Philadelphia, PA 19171-8095

You may also pay your real property tax bill online via OTR's eCheck online payment system.

If your payment is late, you will have to pay penalty and interest charges. The penalty is 10 percent of your tax and the interest is 1.5 percent of the tax for each full or partial month your payment is late. When you make a payment, it is automatically applied to the oldest amount you owe. If you do not pay the full amount, the real property may be sold at the annual Real Property Tax Sale.

If the payment date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the payment is due the next business day.

Bill Courtesy Notification

This feature allows for property owners to elect to receive an email notification when real property correspondence becomes available. Billing notices include the real property tax bill, public space above/below ground bills, special assessment property tax bills, tax sale notices, and the property tax bill (possessory interest). This does not replace the mailing of physical notices.

To utilize this feature, visit MyTax.DC.gov and navigate to: Real Property > View More Options > Bill Courtesy Notifications.
