This week, the Office of Tax Revenue mailed the first individual income tax bills arising from 2009 income tax filing season. A third-party software product, used by practitioners and taxpayers, contained an error in the reporting of withholding tax payments on paper returns. This resulted in some taxpayers not receiving full credit for the withholding amount reported.
OTR is identifying all of the affected taxpayers and will appropriately adjust the withholding line.
Taxpayers who received a bill in error should call OTR’s Customer Service Center at (202) 727-4TAX (4829).
